Historic Building Recording

Measured survey, photographic recording and interpretive reporting for listed buildings and other historic fabric affected by development.

Heritage Consultancy

Historic Building Recording (HBR) documents the form, fabric and significance of historic buildings and structures. It is typically required where development proposals affect listed buildings, buildings in conservation areas, or other designated/non-designated heritage assets.

Our built heritage team produces recording packages proportionate to the significance of the asset and the nature of the proposed works — from Level 1-2 photographic and drawn survey through to detailed analytical recording where required by planning conditions or conservation officers.

We work to relevant standards and guidance (including Historic England and Historic Environment Scotland) and integrate recording with wider heritage assessments such as Heritage Statements and Environmental Impact Assessment.

What we deliver

Measured drawings, rectified photography, written descriptions, phasing analysis, and illustrated reports suitable for submission as part of planning applications, discharge of conditions, and archive deposition.
