Finds Manager
Julie joined Headland in 2005 as a Finds Officer. Now Finds Manager, she works with the rest of the Finds Team and field staff to ensure all finds are recorded appropriately and that they receive any specialist treatment and analysis they need. She coordinates post-excavation work and manages budgets and timetables, including the MHI A14 finds programme. She also has a role as a Post-excavation Project Manager and is an experienced editor. She has seen a number of significant projects through to publication.
Julie is also Headland’s specialist in medieval and post-medieval pottery and small finds. Her field of expertise encompasses metalwork, glassware, clay pipes, ceramic building material and other finds. She had been working as a finds specialist for over 25 years, dealing with sites from Scotland, England and Ireland and her finds reports have been widely published. This experience has given her a wide-ranging knowledge of all types of finds, a wide network of contacts and colleagues and a grasp of issues of finds first aid, conservation, storage, recording, illustration and archiving.
