Head of Post-Excavation
Alex has been working in archaeology since completing his PhD in 2000, including over 17 years in the commercial sector and over six years in academic research. He is the Head of Post-excavation for Headland Archaeology, with responsibility for managing the overall completion as well as the specialist areas of post-excavation, including research, finds, graphics and environmental work across all of its offices and operations.
Alex has extensive experience of producing, editing and managing post-excavation projects, including assessments and published reports, covering sites of all periods. He has particular experience of management within post-excavation stages of large joint venture projects, including A14 in Cambridgeshire, High Speed 2 and Heathrow Terminal 5. He has a strong research background in Roman archaeology, with many academic publications produced over 23 years, and was the Senior Research Fellow within the University of Reading’s major ‘Roman Rural Settlement Project’. With this experience, Alex is well-placed to be able to assess the research potential of archaeological sites, and to provide the guidance and management needed to deliver the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders involved in the dissemination of Headland’s projects.
