Intermediate Quantity Surveyor/Assistant Commercial Manager
Joanne worked in banking for 15 years with a variety of jobs from sales, mortgage advising to management. Towards the end of her time there, she obtained a degree in Quantity Surveying, and in 2016 became a quantity surveyor with BAM Construction, where her main projects involved schools and the Edinburgh Airport Expansion. She then moved to a smaller local contractor to run her own projects, completing large refurbishment jobs such as a garden centre, leisure centre, student accommodation and a new hotel. Following this she held a variety of roles in which she also gained experience as a project manager, before joining Headland in 2025 where she is currently pursuing a masters degree in Facilities Management.
As Headland’s Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager Joanne assists with Applications For Payments (AFPs), changes such as Compensation Events (CEs) or Early Warning Notices (EWNs). She is commercial support for anyone who requires assistance with invoicing, changes, contract queries, raising issues with clients and much more. She completes the contract reviews for all new projects and runs monthly Commercial Drop-In sessions for anyone who has any questions, or just wants more information on commercial operations.
