Project Manager
Michail joined Headland Archaeology in 2017 and has progressed through the ranks of the organisation from Project Archaeologist to Senior Archaeologist, before being promoted to Project Manager in February 2026. He brings over 14 years of archaeological experience, including more than five years delivering and leading complex archaeological works on major UK infrastructure schemes such as the Swindon Connector Route, the A47, the Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm Wind Farm Extensions Projects (onshore evaluation), as well as the Lower Thames Crossing, which represents his most recent major field-based role.
Throughout his career, Michail has been involved in a wide range of archaeological fieldwork, including large-scale mitigations, trial trench evaluations, archaeological monitoring and watching briefs, geophysical surveys, earthwork surveys, and urban archaeology within complex and constrained environments. He has led multidisciplinary teams of over 50 staff across linear and multi-site projects, working closely with Tier 1 contractors, clients, curatorial authorities, and local councils to ensure programmes are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
Known for his strong site leadership, collaborative approach, and focus on health & safety and team development, Michail plays a key role in bridging field delivery with project and commercial management. Now part of Headland’s Project Management team, he is committed to supporting and strengthening the organisation’s growing portfolio as he begins delivering his first projects as Project Manager in 2026.
