Heritage Statements

Our experts provide quality Heritage Statements that accurately assess risk and best serve the client’s project. As a result of changes in the planning process, there is an increased requirement for Heritage Statements to accompany planning applications and Headland’s team can help ensure that all heritage risks are fully considered and mitigated.

In planning applications that require Listed Building Consent, or where the development is within a Conservation Area, developers are required to provide a Heritage Statement together with the application. To provide that statement, heritage expertise is required to understand the significance of the assets in question.   This might include  how  their setting contributes to their significance and a full assessment of all extant information and interpretation of the impact of our client’s proposed development.

Our team will interrogate all readily available sources of evidence, including photographic records, Historic Environment Records, documentary research and results of previous archaeological investigations. Armed with this body of evidence, we can then work with our client to assess the impact of a proposed development. Where there is impact, we can then look at mitigation strategies to address that impact. By working together we can give our clients the best chance of submitting an application that will succeed.
