Technical Services

Our technical services team provides digital survey and recording services using the latest technology, including GPS, total station, 3D laser scanning, photogrammetry and GIS. We provide survey support to all of our fieldwork projects and also undertake standalone survey commissions.

We manage Headland’s paperless recording system HARK! and undertake data management for our projects. We use a range of digital recording techniques to produce accurate and detailed site plans, section drawings, elevation surveys and 3D models. Our survey data is integrated with our GIS to provide a comprehensive spatial database for each project.

We also provide specialist services including UAV (drone) survey, 3D laser scanning of buildings and structures, and photogrammetric recording of archaeological features and artefacts. Our technical services team works closely with our post-excavation illustrators to produce publication-quality figures.
