Julie Lochrie

Learning & Development Manager

Julie joined Headland Archaeology in 2007 as a Finds Assistant on a yearlong CIfA bursary scheme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. She progressed within the company to a Finds Specialist with her field of interest covering all prehistoric finds from Britain and Ireland with particular expertise in lithics and pottery. She works as a finds specialist on Headland’s own finds assemblages but also takes on external contracts from other excavators.

Since 2016 Julie has held the position of Learning & Development Manager and as of 2017 she is undertaking an Open University certificate in Learning & Development. Her experience during her CIfA bursary scheme provided her with detailed knowledge of the National Occupation Standards and methods of workplace learning and first sparked her interest in Learning & Development. This also cemented her passionate belief that effective learning and development in the workplace can lead to rewarding and sustainable careers. She is responsible for working with departments across the business to develop and implement a training strategy along with keeping records for all staff.
