Culduthel Mains Farm - Iron Age smiths
Excavations in advance of a housing development on the outskirts of Inverness revealed the remains of an Iron Age village which was a centre of iron-working and possibly other types of metalworking in the 1st century AD and probably for much longer. Work on the finds assemblage is currently underway in conjunction with specialists at the National Museums of Scotland. Finds show both the range and proficiency of the local industry and trading links with the Roman Empire to the south.
