HMS Beagle Project, Essex

Headland are working in partnership with the University of St Andrews in connection with the investigation of the purported resting place of Charles Darwin’s HMS Beagle. This 19th sloop ended her days as a Coastguard Watch Vessel stationed in the Essex Marshes where it is believed some of her remains may still survive. Work so far has comprised several phases of pre-disturbance survey, geophysical survey, coring and environmental analysis.
