Kilkenny Gasworks In advance of demolition, Headland were commissioned to undertake a detailed survey of the retort house, part of the Kilkenny Gasworks. Constructed in 1841, it comprised a three-bay structure but the building had been altered and extended significantly since then. Sufficient survived to provide a basic understanding of its construction and use. Evidence for a single-arched brick retort was identified and this, together with brick and iron fixtures, offers additional insight into the layout of the building.
