The Archaeology of Scottish Thatch, Historic Scotland

Dr Tim Holden was commissioned to produce this Technical Advice publication which was designed to inform owners, planners, architects and archaeological contractors on the issues surrounding thatch in Scotland. The once ubiquitous thatched house is rapidly disappearing from the Scottish landscape and this document provides a methodology for the recording of such buildings as well as advice on techniques and sources of information.
