Merigill viaduct

Merigill Viaduct, Cumbria

The 19th century Merrygill Viaduct, a Grade II listed building, comprises a curved nine span arch structure, 110m long and up to 24m high. Headland was commissioned to coordinate the production of the conservation and management plan for the viaduct on behalf of the Northern Viaduct Trust. This plan required assessment of all cultural heritage features on the railway itself and in the immediate vicinity. It included consideration of 19th century features and also pre-historic, Roman and Medieval remains.
