Ballyburn Quarry, Co. Kildare

Headland’s field team was commissioned to undertake a programme of test excavations in advance of a proposed quarry development by the Irish Concrete Federation. The work was undertaken on behalf of Dan Morrissey (Ltd) at Ballyburn, Co. Kildare as part of a planning application to extend an aggregate quarry. Buried archaeological remains had been identified on a geophysical survey, and the team focussed on quantifying and characterising this material to minimise the cost to our client. The work was undertaken swiftly and to the client’s satisfaction and Headland has since been commissioned to excavate the features identified during testing.
