N25 Waterford Bypass
Headland Archaeology were contracted by Waterford City Council to undertake all excavation works on the N25 Waterford Bypass, an 18 km bypass around Waterford City, with associated link roads. The route forms part of the N25 and runs from Kilmeaden in Co. Waterford to Slieverue in Co. Kilkenny. The contract involved test excavation, fencing, excavation, post-excavation and publication for 47 sites dating from the Mesolithic to the present day. Some difficult and challenging excavations were undertaken, particularly on the alluvial wetland adjacent to the river, and this work demanded a pragmatic and professional approach. Headland delivered this work on time and budget, building on our strong reputation for infrastructural archaeology.
Quote: “My level of overall satisfaction with headland Archaeology is very high. In all aspects of the project they have displayed a proactive, flexible and professional approach which has led to the contract running very smoothly.” James Eogan, Project Archaeologist, National Roads Authority.
