MARITIME AND INLAND WATERWAYS

Maritime Archaeology studies our past relationship with the sea and freshwater environment.

The increased awareness of our maritime heritage requires careful consideration when advising on the effects of development on the sea-bed, within the inter-tidal zone and along our coasts and inland waterways; often through the regeneration of many waterfront locations such as docks, harbours and canals and the impact of developments on the seabed, such as offshore renewables.

Headland has responded through the development of its own Maritime Archaeology team. This is fully resourced to advise on all matters concerning the effective management of our maritime cultural heritage, particularly in the preparation of mitigation strategies designed to protect the archaeology, enabling development.

Whether the issue concerns the discovery of wreck remains, harbour or waterfront developments, or the assessment of our cultural heritage in the maritime environment, our response is client-focused, in keeping with the industry’s best practice.
